I’m back from last weeks IonSearch Conference with a notebook full of ideas and tools to try out, and hopefully some of those ideas will also inspire a few blog posts to boot. My favourite sessions had to be:
Best Practices & Opportunities to Make the Most Out of Mobile SEO
Speaker: Aleyda Solis, @aleyda
This session included general mobile SEO tips as well as looking at the pro’s and cons of different methods of delivering mobile sites such as responsive, dynamic serving and a parallel mobile website i.e. m.mysite.com.
Search engine results personalisation: When individuals become the ‘algorithm’ how do I manage my rankings then?
Speaker: Andy Atkins Kruger, @andyatkinskruge
A really useful; review of personalised search and its impact on rankings, keyword share of voice was suggested as an alternative to keyword rankings – share of voice cropped up in a few of the sessions I attended when discussing metrics and reporting on SEO success, definitely an area I will be taking a closer look at!
Infographics, Data and Inbound Content
Although my current employer doesn’t do a lot of work with Infographics this was still an interesting session (although a little skewed toward an agency approach – as were a few of the other sessions) rather than an in-house perspective. The panel mentioned motion graphics and kinetic typography which sounded like really interesting areas to explore further.
Did you go to IonSearch 2013? What were your highlights?
